Both the Varsity and JV took some big steps forward at the Marquette Invite held on the lovely and challenging Tendick Park course. The Varsity out paced a competitive field to win the title while the JV scored a perfect 15 points and placed 16 of the first 17 finishers in the race. Varsity was lead by Zach Temple (1), Liam Culp (4), Eli Pettit (6), Peter Negrut (15) and Jonah Simonson (17). The JV was lead by August Peters (1), Basil Keck (2), Sam Stanton (3), Owen Cooney (4), and Clay Elmore (5). Zach, Liam, and Eli all made improvements on their times on our team all time Honor Roll page. Many boys ran season or lifetime bests. Well done all!

We had some excellent results at today’s Big 8 Grade Level Challenge. This meet has a slightly different format. There are 2 races, a Frosh/Soph race and a Jr./Sr. race. Each grade is ranked ordered against their grade only. The top 7 places for each school, regardless of grade, make up a team’s score. We had most of our older Varsity athletes do their long run today and not race. This allowed the majority of our scoring to come from our Freshman and Sophomore. We finished 2’ND overall lead by August Peters #1 Soph, Owen Cooney #3 Soph, Nathan Schwoerer #4 Frosh, Walt Strange #4 Soph, Summit Todd #5 Frosh, Basil Keck #5 Sr. and Harold Westergaard #6 Frosh. Additionally 3 boys ran their first races of the year – Dragos Chiruta (12), Gaon Oh (11), and Kieran Komarek (9). Congrats to all!

Boys have a solid day of racing at River Valley Invite. Varsity scores 62 points in big win. Zach Temple (2), Liam Culp (10), Eli Pettit (14), Luke O’Neil (17), and Jonah Simonson (20) lead Varsity. JV scores a perfect 15 points and place 7 in the first 10.

Next week at Marquette Invite held at Tendick Park on Sept. 16.

The boys got the competition season off to a great start at the large Verona Invitational with both the Varsity and JV posting nice wins over the 31 team field. Varsity was lead by Zach Temple (2), Liam Culp (10), Eli Pettit (19), Jonah Simonson (30), and Peter Negrut (43).

JV was lead by overall winner Luke O’Neil (1), Owen Cooney (6), Basil Keck (7), Clay Elmore (11) and Walt Strange (14).

Many team members ran their first Cross Country race ever on the challenging Verona Course. Congrats to all. Next meet is Saturday Sept. 9 at the River Valley Invitational in Spring Green, WI.

Congratulations to the team for an outstanding 3’RD place at the State Championships! This was the one fastest State Meets in 108 year history of the meet. To place in the top 3 with a score lowere than years when we have won, is a tribute to every single member of the team. Well done all!
